Newcomer Services – Welcoming Communities Skilled Trade Expo

Welcoming Communities Skilled Trade ExpoOn Monday November 13, our Newcomer Services – Welcoming Communities program hosted a Skilled Trades Expo for over 150 secondary students.

The Passport to Career Success event gave these new Canadians an opportunity to experience hands-on activities and hear from professionals in the construction sector and other skilled trades.

Students rolled up their sleeves, sharpened their creative skills, and discussed continuing education and career paths with trained professionals.

By helping students learn about future career and employment options, we create opportunities for a better future and easier settlement into Canadian society.

Huge thank you to our partners and skilled professionals who participated in the event:

Maintenance and Construction Skilled Trades Council – MCSTC
Blackwell
Toronto Society of Architects – TSA
Hospitality Workers Training Centre
George Brown College
Carpenters Union Local 27
TDSB OYAP/Secondary Pathways
TDSB Studio 500 Hairstylist Apprenticeship

Program is operated by Toronto District School Board
Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
